Half an hour after the opening of CPHI China 2026 on June 16, a small queue had formed at a booth in Hall W9. In front of the blue backdrop marked with Jinan Hongwan Biotechnology, purchasers from India, the Republic of Korea, Southeast Asia and other regions lined up for business consultations, holding pre-printed product requirement lists. This marked the full-lineup debut of this high-tech enterprise rooted in Shanghe Economic Development Zone, Jinan, at this top-tier Asia-Pacific pharmaceutical raw material summit.
As a local enterprise that settled in the Shanghe High-End Chemical API Industrial Base back in 2018, Hongwan Biotechnology came fully prepared for this exhibition. There were no flashy internet-famous check-in installations in the booth, and nearly half of the space was dedicated to the product showcase zone. High-purity samples of core products including Tadalafil, Avanafil and 3-Chloropropiophenone were neatly arranged in transparent display cabinets, while the adjacent display boards clearly specified the CAS No., patented synthetic process advantages and scalable mass production capacity for each product, attracting numerous industry peers to stop and document the detailed introductions.
During my two-hour stay at the booth, Hongwan's team barely had a moment to spare. The company's senior management, together with core business executives, had just seen off a group of long-term clients from Qilu Pharmaceutical when they immediately joined a video call with a European CDMO service provider to verify on-site the production compliance requirements for customized intermediates. The technical team provided one-on-one explanations for every visiting client on the company's R&D capabilities and production scale. Its full-spectrum service covering gram-level lab trials to ton-level commercial mass production stood out as the most well-received highlight among global buyers at the show.
The dedicated negotiation area was fully occupied by industry partners from across the world. Delegates came to finalize long-term supply contracts for pharmaceutical intermediates, source high-quality cosmetic raw materials, and discuss in-depth industry-university-research collaborative projects with representatives from top research institutions. A purchaser who flew over from Singapore shared that he had tracked Hongwan's product quality for 2 consecutive years, and officially signed the bulk order for the second half of 2026 on site, drawn by its ISO9001-certified consistent quality control and the rapid delivery responsiveness supported by its Shandong production base.
After years of attending industry exhibitions, I have seen far too many enterprises that treat trade shows as a perfunctory formality only for taking photos, but Hongwan's performance this time was completely different. It brought the strict production standards implemented in its Shanghe factory, the R&D achievements accumulated in its in-house laboratories, and the technical breakthroughs from years of in-depth cooperation with Shandong Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences to the Shanghai exhibition site in a highly pragmatic manner. There were no exaggerated promotional remarks, and all business negotiations focused on clients' core concerns including guaranteed delivery cycles, strict quality indicators and full compliance documentation. By the end of the 3-day event, the team's list of intended cooperation projects had been fully filled with high-value global leads.
When the exhibition closed on June 18, Hongwan's on-site staff were still sorting out materials, saying with delight that all hundreds of product brochures brought to the show had been fully distributed, and more than 10 groups of global clients had formally scheduled on-site inspection visits to its Shanghe, Jinan production facility in the following month.
From the standardized production workshops in Shanghe Economic Development Zone to the global industry stage at Shanghai New International Expo Center, this outstanding local enterprise from Shandong is leveraging the CPHI platform to present the innovative strength of China's pharmaceutical intermediate sector to partners across the globe.
